GEZGIN

The RASAT Research Team, produced by TÜBİTAK Space Technology Research Institute, is the first domestic production site observation produced in Turkey. Having a new generation of modules designed and developed by Turkish engineers, the satellite shows the place where Turkey comes in the field of space technology. The RASAT Site Observer is the second remote sensing design that the TUBITAK Space Technology Research Institute (TÜBİTAK UZAY) designed after the BİLSAT satellite. Designed and produced by TÜBİTAK UZAY with the support of the Ministry of Development, RASAT was launched from Russia on 17 August 2011. RASAT continues to function successfully. The RASAT satellites fly at the same altitude as the Sun at 700 km altitude. It has a 7.5 m panchromatic, 15 m multi-band spatial resolution pushbroom camera. Designed to last 3 years, the RASAT can be viewed in 3 axes, with a 4-day re-visit time from the satellite and a strip width of 30 km and a strip of 960 km long. Due to the trajectory feature, images can be taken from anywhere in the world. The satellite, which is controlled from the ground station located at TÜBİTAK UZAY facilities, travels through Turkey 4 times a day and has an average of 42 minutes of communication per day. With this portal, public institutions and universities will be able to question RASAT images that they will use for remote sensing purposes and download the images of the desired places for free. In addition, users will also be able to request new images. The images taken from RASAT will be added to the portal by making geometrical and color corrections. Thus, users will also be able to access the current view. With RASAT, we aim to cover Turkey once every year. Our name comes from the GEZGİN module which is one of the first national space loads of Turkey that successfully performs image compression and encryption processes on the name BİLSAT, RASAT and Göktürk-2 satellites. The images that are compressed on the satellite with the GEZGIN module are available to the end users through GEZGİN website.
